LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE BOOK EXHIBITS

Seventh National Conference of the Historical Society:
“Historical Inquiry in the New Century”
George Washington University, Washington, DC, June 3-5, 2010

Book ExhibitThe Historical Society seeks to revitalize the study and teaching of history by reorienting the profession toward an accessible, integrated field—free from fragmentation and over-specialization. The Society’s National Conference—held every other year—provides a forum where economic, political, and social historians exchange ideas, fostering critical engagement and dialogue while promoting a scholarly history accessible to the public. This year’s conference will explore current debates in historiography: What are historians’ “big questions”? How has the writing of history changed? What are the goals for the history we write? Attendees will discuss different approaches to the past, promote non-European histories, and present their latest findings in military, religious, world and intellectual history.

This is the best meeting of the year to reach an enthusiastic, influential group of scholars—prodigious readers and book buyers—working to bring historical scholarship into public debates and education.

ABOUT THE BOOK EXHIBIT

LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE’s book exhibit once again will be a central component of the Historical Society conference. Located at the heart of the meeting space—near registration and coffee breaks—our exhibit will offer participants the opportunity to select from a comprehensive collection of the latest and most significant books and journals in the fields of history and historiography.

Our professional exhibit managers will be on-site from the beginning of the conference to its conclusion. We actively promote your books by discussing them with conferees, distributing promotional material, selling books on-site using publisher-supplied order forms, and urging attendees to consider titles for course adoption and library acquisition.
