What we are. What the sovereign is (what we are in relationship to a sovereign).
What "society" is: the fantasy of being BOUND TO THE BODY OF THE LEADER. A psychosomatic experience.
"National unity:" everyone in the nation bound to one another and bound to the body of the sovereign.
Psychoanalysts have rejected the concept of symbiosis because they live within a symbiotic fantasy. Not an infantile state of development. But the VERY MATRIX in which we are embedded.
We don't know it because we are in it.
The little men don't have wills of their own because they are dependent on the brain of the sovereign.
The meaning of OBEDIENCE TO AUTHORITY: not an abstract, cognitive idea, but an EXPERIENCE: unable to resist, rebel against, the body of which one is a part.
This is what OPPRESSION is: not some abstract idea. But an INABILITY TO MOVE because one is bound to the body of the sovereignsovereign.
What might "freedom" consist of? Separation from the body of the sovereign, to become a man without a country.

Hobbes, Thomas (1651). Leviathan
The frontispiece to Thomas Hobbes’s Leviathan depicts the head and torso of a long-haired, mustachioed man. Upon close scrutiny, it becomes evident that the man’s torso and arms are composed of tiny individual persons, crowded closely together and each looking toward the head of the composite Leviathan.
