Fanatic Belief as Obedience unto death

CULT LEADERS

Limbless
• Worship of a god conceived as omnipotent (“Allah” or “Germany”).
• Kill infidels (those who do not worship the god that one worships oneself).
Fanatic believers worship a god conceived as omnipotent. Bin Laden worshipped Allah. Hitler worshipped a god called "Germany." Each man headed a religious cult--promoting violence against those who did not embrace their beliefs.

Fanatic believers find it intolerable contemplating the idea that people do not worship the god that they worship. In the cases of Hitler and Bin Laden, these men were so disturbed by the idea of nonbelievers--that they sought to kill them.

Bin Laden spoke of infidels. Hitler conceived of Jews as infidels (though they might have joined his cult had they been allowed to do so).

Political violence is a form of terrorism: seeking to kill those who refuse to bow down to the god that constitutes one's own society. "Conquest" does not seeking practical gain, rather is undertaken in the name of compelling "others" to submit to and worship one's own god.

The term "conquest" never appears in Hitler's writings and speeches. What did "world domination" mean for him? It meant that every human being on the face of the earth would submit to the god to which he and his followers had submitted.

The Final Solution was an act of terror—designed to kill infidels—those who symbolized hostility toward the god to which the Nazis had submitted. Hitler's philosophy was: no one is exempt; everyone must bow down to the god to which I have bowed down.

Hitler sacrificed his life for Germany and expected everyone else to sacrifice their lives for his god. This is what "killing" in war and genocide means: getting others to die for your god.

Nazis practised "obedience unto death." The slogan of the SS-man was the essence of their weltanschauung. But what about others? Those that did not embrace the Nazi's welatanschauung? “Death to the non-believers.”

The Final Solution compelled Jews to submit to the German god. They too would prostrate themselves before the nation—become obedient unto death.
