Because of computers and the Internet we now have the opportunity to understand “uploading.” We ourselves—without much difficulty—can bring our own ideas into the world. We “upload” our thoughts into society; into the ether. We create culture ourselves.
This is one of the most gigantic changes in the history of the human race. Anyone in the world can convey their ideas by “uploading them”--through the Internet. The theoretical yield of the reality of uploading is profound. We now can recognize that we human beings are the source of everything that exists in the world.
Every human creation, the words, buildings, inventions, the philosophies, etc. is the result of something that was “uploaded” by a concrete human being—at some time or another. It may not seem this way. But it is clear, simply from a logical point of view, that we are the source.
Everything that we now “download” was “uploaded” by some human being. Even before the Internet, an idea had to be created and uploaded into culture—by a human being—before it could be “downloaded” by other human beings—as an element of society. Some human beings in China had to have had the imagination to invent the idea of “foot-binding”—before the binding of women’s feet could become a cultural institution lasting for 1000 years.
You might accept my theorizing if you think about musical symphonies or works of literature or inventions like the airplane. But are you able and willing to apply this theorizing to institutions like warfare and social movements like genocide? Are you able and willing to acknowledge that we are the source? Who creates warfare? We do. Who creates genocide? We do.
