and Psychotic Delusion

“The Jews are Guilty”
“Every Jew is our enemy in this historic struggle, whether he vegetates in a Polish ghetto or carries on his parasitic existence in Berlin or Hamburg or blows the trumpets of war in New York or Washington. All Jews by virtue of their birth and their race are part of an international conspiracy against National Socialist Germany. They want its defeat and annihilation, and do all in their power to bring it about.”

At this very moment, we are witnessing a revolution in human thought. History once was conceived as normality. If it happened, it happened. The task of the historian was to report on what happened.

The words of Goebbels above express a psychotic delusion. However, Goebbels wasn't viewed as psychotic. Historians rarely view political leaders as psychotic.

It is now possible to see how a leader can put forth, embrace and believe a delusion. And how he can induce members of society to embrace and believe his delusions.

Some of these delusions are so radical that we might call them psychotic delusions. Was Goebbels suffering from a psychotic delusion? Were many of the German people?
