THE OBSERVER EFFECT AND THE WRITING OF HISTORY:
How Historians Create Mass-Murder

The observer effect in psychology, also known as the Hawthorne effect, refers to subjects altering their behavior when they become aware that an observer is present.

The "Hawthorne effect" lies at the heart of the historical process, particularly when it comes to mass-murder and the psychology of  mass-murderers.

Do we imagine that mass-murders are stupid? That they don't read history books? Of course, we know they do.

Mass-murder occurs in order to gain the attention of the observers: those who chronicle "history:" who write the history books.

Mass-murder occurs for the sake of historians. The mass-murderers know they will be "written up in  history books." They kill massive numbers of human beings in order to be "remembered."

Historians are part of the dynamics of mass-murder. They "fall for the bait." They are in cahoots with mass-murderers, who seek to be remember by killing large numbers of people.

Historical acts created or produced by leaders and followers are not independent of those who observe and record these actions. This is the Hawthorne effect applied to the historical process.

Leaders kill because they know their acts are being observed by historians. The more murders, the bigger the write-ups. They kill in order to "make history."

Historians are witless "enablers." They imagine they are separate from what they write about. But as observers--they are intimately bound to the process.

Mass-murders and historians go together like a horse and a carriage--you can't have one without the other.

Which historical figure produced the most corpses?

According to Islamic revolutionary Abdullah Azzam, history “does not write its lines except with blood.” Glory does not build its lofty edifice “except with skulls.” Honor and respect are established on a foundation of “cripples and corpses.”

“History” records the acts of political leaders who have killed a lot of people. Historical “significance” is measured by “counting skulls.” Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin and Mao are chronicled because they produced a monumental number of cripples and corpses.”
