My purpose of writing here is to generate psychic change. I'm hoping you will begin to think differently about certain phenomena--that you have been accustomed to thinking about in an other way.
It's not simply a question of "knowledge." Psychic change requires assimilation, a form of psychic work, which is also a work of mourning--as one is compelled to abandon old ideas.
Nicholas Carr (2010) observes that a printed book is “a finished object.” Inked onto a page, its words seem "indelible.” The finality of the act of publishing instills in writers a desire for perfection--with an eye toward "eternity.”
Nothing is eternal. In the digital or Internet world, publication is an ongoing process rather than a discrete event. The idea of “eternity” melts into the background.
Psychic change generates cultural change. However, cultural change begins begins with the self; the assimilation of an idea into the mind of an individual.
