PUBLISHING YOUR WRITINGS, BOOKS AND PODCASTS
A New Phase of Existence Begins

Dear Colleague,

It looks like the book exhibit business is in retreat. Maybe conferences themselves may disappear. LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE BOOK EXHIBITS had a fabulous run of 30 years organizing displays--establishing ourselves as the most serious and devoted exhibitor of scholarly and professional books. We created the largest and most beautiful exhibits (scroll down the page at this link for photos).

Although we are no longer organizing book exhibits, you are well aware that LIBRARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE still exists. We've been promoting the writings of Richard Koenigsberg.

Now we turn to promoting authors such as yourself--publishing your writings, publicizing your books and letting people know about your lectures, podcasts and public appearances...to our email list of 8000+ scholars and students from around the world.

A new phase of existence is beginning. We will be inviting some of you to join us.

Best regards,
Mei Ha

The Happiness Industry (Verso)
FRANCESCO DUINA
Broke and Patriotic (Stanford)
The recent DSM-5 for the first time included shyness and grief as treatable diseases. Happiness has become the biggest idea of our age, a new religion dedicated to well-being. In this brilliant dissection of our times, William Davies shows how this philosophy has dominated the political debates that have delivered neoliberalism. Why are poor Americans so patriotic? They have significantly worse social benefits compared to other Western nations. In Broke and Patriotic, Francesco Duina reports his findings based on over 60 revealing interviews in which the people he met explain how they view themselves and their country.

The Wilding of America (Worth)
How does culture shape our thinking? In what ways do our social and cultural worlds enter into our mental worlds? How do the communities we belong to influence what we notice and what we ignore? In this engaging book, Wayne H. Brekhus shows us the many ways that culture influences our thought processes. From the heights of society down to the saddest corners of America, we are currently experiencing an epidemic of "wilding"—acts of self-interested violence or greed that weaken the social fabric. Derber's fully updated Sixth Edition takes the reader on a terrifying tour of this out-of-control individualism spreading across the United States.

Pathfinders in International Psychology (Information Age Publishing)
Argues that the category of mother is distinct from the category of woman, and that many of the problems mothers face are specific to women's role and identity as mothers. Consequently, mothers need a feminism of their own, one that positions mothers' concerns as the starting point for a theory and politic of empowerment. This book provides a global overview of pioneers in international psychology, with contributions from distinguished authors from representative nations around the world. Chapters offer biographical profiles describing the personal histories and professional contributions of leading figures in psychology from across the globe.
