The Holocaust: Dying for a nation-state without sugar-coating.
Stripped of words like loyalty, honor, nobility and duty.

Richard A. Koenigsberg

In warfare, dying for one's country is often conceived as honorable and noble.

The Holocaust came into being in order to portray "dying for a country" in a different light.

The Holocaust presented suffering, degradation and death at the hands of a nation-state--without sugar-coating.

The Holocaust existed in order to tell us something about the reality of death in battle: portraying death at the hands of the nation-state stripped of words like as loyalty, honor, duty and nobility.
