FEAR AND TREMBLING: SICKNESS UNTO DEATH:
SUBMISSION TO NATIONS

Richard Koenigsberg

Each of the two societies mentioned below functioned and defined their survival in terms of the sacrificial phantasy: feeding their "god" with blood. The sadness of the human race.

The sad state of scholarship--the belief that extraordinary, bizarre forms of behavior such as these can be explained according to "rational" principles.

And the dishonesty of mental health Professionals--who accept these deeply pathological events as "normal."

About the havoc and massive dying that took place in the First World War, Hitler said, "it would be a sin to complain." Because after all, were the soldiers not "dying for German?"

Which points to fear and trembling--sickness unto death--the failure of historians, political scientists, and everyone else--to deconstruct the idea of the "nation-state," in the name of which all of these horrific forms of behavior were performed. Abject terror in the face of (mother) countries.

Lopez Austin on the Aztec god:

As long as men could offer the blood and hearts of captives taken in combat, the sun god would continue on his course above the earth. It was necessary to feed the sun every day with its food, the precious water, that is, with human blood.

Rudolf Hess on the Nazi god:

The stream of blood which flows for Germany is eternal — the sacrifice of German men for their Volk is eternal — therefore Germany will also be eternal.
