Devoted Actors die & kill in the name of Sacred Objects: Part XXII

An other group or class of people may come to symbolize disbelief or doubt in the goodness or power or truth of the object with which members of one’s own group are identified. To maintain faith—remain attached and devoted to the sacred object—the believer must rid himself of feelings of skepticism and disbelief. To rescue the sacred object—remove feelings of doubt and disbelief—acts of violence may be undertaken against groups or classes of people that symbolize doubt and disbelief (feelings within the the believer that he has repressed or disavowed).
