WHEN INSANITY BECOMES NORMALITY
Richard Koenigsberg

Leaders put forth psychotic fantasies that come to define or construct ordinary social reality--thus rendering people who embrace these fantasies no longer psychotic.

Political leaders introduce psychotic ideas into the public domain. However, insofar as members of society come to share the leader's delusions, these delusions are rendered "normative." Shared psychosis becomes equated with "reality."

We no longer recognize psychopathology as psychopathology when an entire society becomes immersed within--possessed by--a delusion. Insanity becomes "normality."
