The Human Body is Projected into a Body Politic
by Richard A. Koenigsberg

The human body is externalized into political units: the idea of one's own body projected into the nation, a body politic, a double of the self (the King's second body). The foundation of politics: creation of an "immortal body" with which the self identifies. Relocation of the self. Whereas one's own body is in the process of disintegrating, the body politic "lives on." The fundamental illusion: "culture" imagined to exist at a place separate from concrete existence. Fantasy of eternal fusion with an immortal object accounts for 75% of the variance in human behavior.
