PANIC AS THE SOURCE OF POLITICAL VIOLENCE
(The nation is having a panic attack and a tranquilizer won't help).

The fundamental variable that is the source of political violence is PANIC. The leader is in a PANIC MODE, which he conveys to the populace. The Nation is about to be destroyed. Action must be taken. 

The cause or source of the panic is a particular CLASS OF PEOPLE that is out to destroy the nation. Could be any group: Jews, communists, capitalists. "It's always something," as Emily Litella used to say. Unless this group of class of people is destroyed THE NATION WILL CEASE TO EXIST.

Thus, genocide or war: a RESCUE FANTASY: destroy that group or class of people whose very existence will spell the death of the nation. ACT QUICKLY, ACT NOW, ACT VIOLENTLY. "Save the country." "Save the nation." "Save the people."

Kill the Jews, kill the communists, kill the capitalists, kill the Vietnamese, OK, please fill in the blanks according to your specialty.  

For if the nation doesn't exist, I will cease to exist.
