FOUNDATION FOR THE STUDY OF POLITICAL PSYCHOSIS
States and Societies are established on an "edifice of skulls"
(Abdullah Azzam)

A clear example of political insanity or psychosis appears in the writings (and the acts  his writings inspired) of Abdullah Azzam, whose ideology is set forth in his famous essay, “Martyrs: The Building Blocks of Nations." Bin Laden’s mentor, Azzam has been called the “Lenin of international jihad.”

Richard A. Koenigsberg

Azzam's philosophy, summarized in his own words below, revolved around the idea that killing, murder, the production of cripples and corpses, was of value in and of itself. "States and societies," he claimed, are established on an "edifice of skulls."

Azzam: “History does not write its lines except with blood. Glory does not build its loft edifice except with skulls, Honour and respect cannot be established except on a foundation of cripples and corpses. Empires, distinguished peoples, states and societies cannot be established except with examples. Indeed, (one cannot) change reality, or change societies, without blood, sacrifices and invalids, without pure, innocent souls.”
