Psychoanalysis has been "locked within the box" of the clinical situation. Yet it's pretty obvious by now that entire societies can be possessed by psychopathology. Societies throughout the Twentieth Century have been consumed by "madness."
It is not difficult to view the entire Twentieth Century as a century of madness. There is an endless stream of videos, documentaries, etc. giving witness to collective forms of insanity.
Is humanity proud of its madness?
Is this what it means to be human?
