"The purpose of war is not to kill, but to cause people to  die."

The purpose of warfare is to produce dead bodies, then to honor dead soldiers for having died. Warfare exists as a testimonial to the greatness of one's nation, which "lives on" as long as people continue to die in its name."

When soldiers die, this allows human beings (members of nation-states) to build memorials honoring these dead soldiers.

The deaths of soldiers and memorials built to honor dead soldiers proves the existence of one's nation-state and demonstrates how devoted people are to their nation-state.
