DIE FOR GERMANY OR WE WILL KILL YOU
Richard A. Koenigsberg
The first rule of Nazism was "obedience unto death." Germans were required to sacrifice their lives for the German nation. The second rule of Nazism was that Jews too had to be killed--since they were imagined to be incapable of being obedient to Germany or of sacrificing their lives for any nation. Jews were "free floating," comfortable everywhere, unable to attach to any nation.
The intent of the Holocaust was to "bring Jews back into the fold," to compel them to become "obedient unto death"--like Germans were required to become obedient unto death when asked to do so.
The purpose of death in the gas-chambers was to "bring Jews back into the fold." They would join loyal Germans by becoming "obedient unto death."
