NAZISM AS SHARED PSYCHOSIS
Psychiatrists say that only individuals can be psychotic, and that when an entire society embraces bizarre thoughts, and engages in monumentally destructive forms of behavior, you can't call thesethe thoughts and forms of behavior psychotic--because they"fit in" with a cultural norm.
However, reading the transcript of one of Joseph Goebbels' pronouncements (see below), it's obvious that the phrase "psychotic delusion" is an accurate description of his thinking.
Goebbels--and many other Germans--put their money where their mouths were. They brought their ideas into the world. Nazism enacted a collective psychotic fantasy.
