Jordan Peterson on Koenigsberg's theory that Hitler's metaphors reveal the meaning of genocide: "How do you think and talk if you are possessed by disease metaphors? It's a purification metaphor. Hitler's essential metaphor was that the nation was a pure body, a pure Aryan body that was being assaulted by parasites that were subjecting it to disease and decay. This was the fundamental metaphor that was at the bottom of his physical message.
"It wasn't a movement that was predicated on an idea. Hitler's brand of fascism wasn't a movement that was predicated on ideas, like communism. Communism is predicated on ideas. But Nazism wasn't that. It was in the realm of embodied images.
"It was more difficult to fight against from the ideological perspective. It wasn't a well-developed intellectual movement. It was an embodied movement. Hitler was extraordinarily good at using the metaphors and images and his incredible capacity for propagandistic display to fire people up at a level of analysis that they weren't aware of."
Jordan Peterson conveys Koenigsberg's theory that nation-states function as if bodies with an immune system, rejecting "alien" or "not self" entities imagined to be contained within.
Koenigsberg demonstrates that the Holocaust grew out of the idea of Jews as disease entities within the nation that had to be removed if the body politic was to survive. The continued presence of these Jewish entities within Germany would mean the death of the nation.

REVIEW OF HITLER'S IDEOLOGY
"When political figures refer to national crises as ‘cancers,’ Richard Koenigsberg feels it’s no accident. He feels such expressions are echoes of a nation’s hidden belief systems. If you can understand the underlying fantasies that provide politicians with such rhetoric, then you can understand the country. This book presents an ingenious technique for identifying the psychological origins of political and social events.—The Village Voice
