WHAT IS WARFARE:
INDIVIDUALS MUST DIE SO THE NATION MAY LIVE

Richard Koenigsberg

An institutional activity (socially acceptable until recently), in which people are slaughtered in the name of mystical entities called nations or "bodies politic," supported by the statement, "The individual must die so the nation might live."

The phrase "those who here gave their lives that the nation might live" is a central part of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. It refers to the soldiers who died in the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War.
