DEATH IN WAR AS THE PRINCIPLE OF VERIFICATION

Death in war functions as the principle of verification: what we die for becomes true. The creation of "sacred objects" requires death.

The death of our own soldiers or death of the enemy count equally. Warfare, fundamentally, is the creation of death, though each side contends it is trying to “win.”

Death as truth: "The Law of Sacrifice." For an idea to become true, we die for this idea.

MEMORIALS are created subsequently, functioning as permanent validation of the truth of the sacred ideal for which soldiers have died.

What a sad ritual this is.

To become conscious of this ritual is to begin to awaken from the nightmare of history.
