The essence of both warfare and terrorism manifests as a single dynamic: A sacred object is kept alive by feeding it with the blood and bodies of human beings. The object varies, but the mechanism that establishes and sustains the reality of the object remains the same.
This desire to create political death is always bound to a cultural object. One wishes to die oneself (or to bring about the death of others) to demonstrate one's devotion to a sacred object.
Infidels or enemies play an identical role as classes of human beings whose existence negates the reality of the sacred object. These classes of human beings, therefore, must be destroyed to maintain the reality of the sacred object.
| Albert Einstein: “I soon learned to scent out what was able to lead to fundamentals--and to turn aside from everything else, from the multitude of things that clutter up the mind.” |
