The dynamics of Aztec sacrifice was simple. So the sun would continue on its course each day, it had to be fed with the “blood and hearts of captives taken in combat.” As long as the sun was fed each day with it’s “food, the precious water, human blood,” it would “continue on its course above the earth.” 

The ideology of the Nazi leader, Rudolf Hess, was identical: as long as the “stream of blood flowing for Germany was eternal,” as long as the “sacrifice of German men for their Volk was eternal,” therefore Germany would “also be eternal.” Warfare as the eternal flow of blood. Warfare as sacrifice. Sacrifice as the eternal flow of blood. 

The Nazis killed more men in a year that the Aztec did during their entire history (due to advanced technology?). A “modern” society killed more human beings than an ancient civilization.  

And Rudolph Hess, unlike historians (like the Aztecs) understood that the central purpose of all of this was to keep the blood flowing eternally: endless death; immortality through endless death. Germany would be “eternal” as long as the “stream of blood kept flowing eternally.”  

Hess (like the Aztecs) understood the meaning of warfare: not conquest or victory. Not (nonsensically) male aggression. Not (even more nonsensically) an institution that has evolutionary significance (dead human beings don’t pass their genes along). 

Warfare is about the production of endless streams of blood: the sickness and ugliness of the human race; the irrationality of the human race.   

Bleeding and suffering is how we know nations exist. Political history is the endless flow of blood. It’s happening right now. Putin’s objective is to produce an endless stream of blood. By producing an endless stream of blood, “Russia” comes into existence. Without the endless stream of blood, Putin fears Russia will fade into non-existence.
